Try looking at "Pet Shop" ont he sun website. I also recommend not using JSP, but a templating engine like Freemaker or Velocity, both free. They are much easier to write and use, and flow naturally into a well-designed MVC framework.
DB/Enterprise Beans/remote systems --> ( servlet controller +/- [helper processing servlet] ) --> Velocity Template with a simple Bean/Value Object
