Just re-read that e-mail. I wonder if a better solution would be changed it to work with mingw, allowing the potential for cross-compiles to be done on GNU/Linux. If that was working, I could do test builds in the same way I do test builds of alternative configurations such as Zero. The need for a proprietary OS and (by the sounds of it) proprietary tooling is a big blocker IMHO. Something I always wonder about when backporting too is why at least the Java code is not just built on *all* platforms. Excluding perfectly compilable Java code is just asking for trouble.
