The JDK 8 fix was reviewed by:
Sean Coffey, Naoto Sato, Yuka Kamiya, and Kelly O'Hair (makefile
changes)
Justification:
A few months ago Solaris 11 made some (incompatible) changes in the
time zone configuration area. As a result, the Java runtime doesn't
detect the default time zone correctly on Solaris 11 b168 and later,
and wrong local time may be produced by Java classes. This fix is to
deal with the new time zone configuration information of Solaris 11.
Regression tests for this fix are (still) in the closed area.
Please note that this fix addresses the 64-bit Solaris build problem
in JDK 8 (7098454).
Thanks,
Masayoshi
