Which FAQ were you reading? The "JDK 8" project pertains to the
original JDK 8 release, you need to be looking at the "JDK 8 updates"
project for latest 8u information:

That's the original OpenJDK FAQ - very little of relevance to cloning
current repos or doing builds. Could probably do with a refresh on the
answer to "Can I download the OpenJDK source code?" at least.
