Provide a title for each web page on the site that is distinct from the initial
section heading

Key: JDO-384
URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JDO-384
Project: JDO
Type: Improvement
Components: site and infrastructure
Reporter: Michelle Caisse
Assigned to: Michelle Caisse
Priority: Minor
The web page style for the web site generated by Anakia/Velocity
(http://jakarta.apache.org/velocity/docs/anakia.html) confounds the concepts of
page title and initial section heading. There is no facility for providing a
brief title-like description of the contents of the entire page (aside from the
very ignorable html page title displayed in the browser window title bar). In
practice, therefore, we are forced to use the initial section heading for this
purpose. This has a number of consequences:
There is no graphical distinction between other sections headings and the
page title.
There is no way to label the content of the initial section.
The number of available levels of section headings is effectively reduced
from 2 to 1 plus a fraction.
There is a gapingly empty piece of real estate at the top of the page next
to the logo.
It looks and feels unbalanced and awkward .
It bugs me.
