Assuming that the DataNucleus 1.1 is not available today, let's change the test for 2.2 to expect JDOUserException and file a bug report for 2.3 that expects JDOUnsupportedOptionException.

Ok, this is a case of "wrong exception". It should be
JDOUnsupportedOptionException but DataNucleus throws JDOUserException.

Bad implementation.

True, but then I've been using/developing with DataNucleus 1.1 and you
presumably have been using 1.0 and I do seem to remember saying "I backported changes to 1.0 as far as I can see so it 'should be ok'", so was left as an
exercise to the testers ;-)

Nightlybuild (core-1.0-SNAPSHOT) ought to be fine.
