In discussion with Jerry and Garrett, it seems that checking DTUSERSESSION instead of UTAUDIODEV for whether we are running on Sun Ray is a better choice. So, please commit after you change the code to check DTUSERSESSION instead of UTAUDIODEV. Did you test this code, and did it work well? After this change, when you run gnome-volume-control, then on Sun Ray we should only see the SunAudio mixer device available and on non-Sun Ray we should only see the OSS mixer device available.
