These two patches fix doo bug #10611 where the new GDM 2.28 login GUI loses focus after you launch the a11y dialog window. Refer to these bugs for details about this change:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=598235 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=587732 Note that the metacity patch removes the metacity dialog which will display the following dialog if you exit your user session when you have programs running that do not support GNOME session management. These windows do not support "save current setup" [list of old programs that don't support it] This dialog is not particularly useful, and you will notice in comment #5 of bug 587732 that the maintainer is thinking about ripping out the dialog entirely since people find it annoying. This metacity patch is needed because otherwise GDM will always show this dialog before allowing the user to start their session. Supporting focus for a11y users in GDM is more important than this annoying dialog, I think. I anticipate that the upstream metacity maintainers will fix this bug in a more elegant way, and we can then remove the metacity patch.
