by a very long way, but I thought trademarks were a special thing, not just
something you have copyright over?
This comes from "Trademarks Attributions" at
http://www.apache.org/foundation/marks/pmcs.html, it's common practice
across all our projects. I'm not an expert either, so if there are
specific questions best would be to ask on [email protected]

Yes, that's what the above recommendations suggest.
