Dear friends,
Frankly, it is not very nice to compare among leaders of differing countries
pertaining to "what they have" and "what they don't have". Leaders are being
chosen based on merits, while higher educational qualifications enhance
individual merits (that's my personal view).
Jokes aside, look at the bright side and be more objective. People in
Singapore, young and old are 'paper' chaser. Educational papers are of very
important value and inculcate in every tender age children, go along with the
culture and value of education as they grow older. Regardless of race,
language and religion, every children in Singapore strive for the best to
achieve minimum a polytechnic Diploma & a Degree .
In Singapore, GCE 'O' Level (SPM in Malaysia) is just a beginning to further
educational achievements, but not a good standing to land a good job, good
position in an organisation and decent monthly salary. Even mature working
adults in Singapore strive to continue their studies to achieve minimum a
degree, and those with degrees pursue their Masters while still on the job. In
Singapore, individuals with enhance paper qualifications are marketable and
command respect. Friends in Malaysia should strive the same.
Pertaining to spoken English language in Singapore, yes, I do agree that
Singaporeans speak with their local 'slang' popularly known as 'Singlish'.
However, Singlish is generally use when they are speaking among themselves
(locals), and that is their brand of English. Nonetheless, whenever Singapore
children on students exchange programmes abroad, and the mature working people
meet foreigners and business deals, 'Singlish' is automatically dropped and
proper US and/or UK English is being used during conversation. Singaporeans
have been English speaking nation for many years, way ahead before other ASEAN
neighbours appreciate English language.
Here in Malaysia, I've always been invited to tutor English language on
freelance basis. I wish to refrain from commenting on the standard of spoken
and written English. There are many rooms for improvement and hope it is
progressive, and hope people refrain from using 'artificial slang' when
speaking in English. It becomes a laughing stock especially when the grammars
are out.
My best regards to everyone here.
Wassalam

I agree to take it on its positive side. That's shows how important
the education is. For example, our artists. They are icon, idol (whatever you
name it) but mostly uneducated. We can make a short list of who is
well-educated. And the impact? Goes to our kids. At a very young age they want
to be a singer, actor, and put aside their studies. So what do we expect?

This is all speculation played by the rival based on their desperate
measure trying (still) to win over Malaysia in many ways...
If they all are so highly educated y their ppl have to bind themselves with
military act/ law and wanting help from big player i.e. USA. (orang dulu-dulu
kata "Lalang" angin tiup kiri depa pegi kiri...angin tiup kanan depa pegi
kanan!)
The Singaporeans thinks they are too smart... yet they can't even try to be
independent. ...
Malaysians do not jump when being preasured by the UN unlikely Singaporeans.
...straight away become followers!!!
Just look at Singapore's economy...mostly dominated by foreign companies...
Let's not go by far to that...look at their language...it has become
Singlish..!!
....many more to tell and just makes us look much better then them...but what
is the point...WE ALREADY KNOW IT!!!
In general, that is all what the've got....and jaga tepi kain orang is what
they're good at!!
