Thank you Kohsuke, Jesse & Domi for your relevant ideas and detailed pointers! =) We were also considering working on improving test coverage..
We share this need for automating the testing of Jenkins further, core features and top plugins. -Our goal is also to foster stability for the upcoming releases, as we deploy new versions in production. Hence our plans for contributing to the selenium -and unit- tests, starting asap this year and continuing through early 2014.. Maven, git and gerrit-trigger are of particular interest to us, plugin-wise; EnvInject and Email-ext do stand out as well so far. (We will likely need to adjust towards other -or more- features /plugins, as we plan further.) Compat-tester could indeed be needful in terms of harnessing such improved tests. -First we'd need to improve the actual tests, so the results they provide through compat-tester are reliable. We need to focus on an actual test suite that can fulfill our needs -and beyond. As we start looking at how selenium has been used for Jenkins, we'll also get familiar with what Sauce Labs does. (With your hereby pointers as starting points.) So, thx+ again, and I expect coming back to you and our devs community pretty soon! Any more thoughts or opinions you can share are welcome of course!! -Marco.
