Yes. You are currently inheriting the entire build section from the jenkins
parent pom. It should be okay to add the following to your pom, after the
pluginRepositories section:

    <build>
        <plugins>
            <plugin>
                <groupId>org.apache.maven.plugins</groupId>
                <artifactId>maven-release-plugin</artifactId>
                <version>2.5</version>
            </plugin>
        </plugins>
    </build>
