What I found out was that because of the bug in Jenkins core that prevents
it from running with Java8, using Java8 for the development made it
somewhat painful. I needed to set use one version of JDK for "mvn
-Pjut-server" while another for running tests itself.

So I got discouraged a bit and it's still as it was before. IIRC the last
1.532 does contain a fix for XStream JDK8 issue, so at that point it'll
hopelly let us switch more easily.
