Hi all,
I'm following the @jenkins_release twitter account to get notifications about
plugin updates and also to get to know new plugins.
Two days ago I got a tweet about a new plugin "MySQL Job Databases" - to find
out I followed the given link, but unfortunate it only points to the Jenkins
HomePage (unfortunate this is true for quite a bit of plugins...)
Because I'm really interested to see what this plugin is all about I tried to
find its repository... but no luck either :(
There are only two plugins hosted under "github/jenkinsci":
- https://github.com/jenkinsci/mysql-auth-plugin
- https://github.com/jenkinsci/database-mysql-plugin
Both are not the one I'm searching for...
A general search brings up this one not in our organization:
https://github.com/codevise/jenkins-mysql-job-databases-plugin
So digging deeper, I see found some information the update center [1]
What I wanna point out here is this:
- we should make sure every plugin has a correct URL to a documentation on our
WIKI
- I think the agreement was that only plugins hosted under "jenkinsci" on
GitHub are allowed to be published in our update center
Not following this leads to frustrated users because:
- one can't find the documentation
- does not know anything about the developer
- source is untrusted
WDYT? should we try to enforce anything here?
