Hi all,
Could somebody please perhaps make a small tweak to the wording on the
mailing lists page?
https://jenkins-ci.org/content/mailing-lists
Currently the "jenkinsci-users" list text doesn't explicitly mention
plugins, whereas the "jenkinsci-dev" text does:
"Mailing list for developers of Jenkins. Post your Jenkins plugin and
core development questions here. Questions that should be asked on the
jenkinsci-users list will be ignored."
I get the feeling that people are seeing the word "plugin" and
interpreting that as "ask your (plugin|core development) questions
here", rather than "ask your (plugin|core) development questions here".
So it would be nice if the "jenkinsci-users" text was:
"Mailing list for users of Jenkins. Post your questions on how to use
Jenkins and its plugins here."
And the "jenkinsci-dev" text shouldn't mention plugins before core, e.g.:
"Mailing list for developers of Jenkins. Post your Jenkins core
development and plugin development questions here. Questions that
should be asked on the jenkinsci-users list will be ignored."
Hopefully this may help cut down on bad posting a bit more.
Perhaps *bold text* around "users" and "developers" in the first
sentences could help too.
Yours over-optimistically,
Chris
