I did some investigation and from the what I am able to understand it is a relative big code change. To me it do not look like it is not fixing a resent regression. I am not able to produce a pull request for the backport so feel I can not push the work on to others. If anybody feel different I will be happy to see the change in. I will investigate moving off LTS for now or endure the pain until it is in a LTS the normal way.
