With https://github.com/jenkinsci/jenkins/pull/5333 this issue should 
become less critical once the fix gets into LTS.

Regarding the plugin ownership, +1 from me. Note that the plugin is not 
marked for adoption, so we need to contact the maintainer. Gabriel Takeuchi 
has been active in other plugins recently.
