I have a less than ideal workaround:

                                                        Unable to find source-code formatter for language: groovy. Available languages are: actionscript, html, java, _javascript_, none, sql, xhtml, xml
                                                    
sh "git rev-parse --short HEAD > .git/commit-id"                        
commit_id = readFile('.git/commit-id')
