Michael Prokop resolved JENKINS-16153 as Fixed Branch setting / evaluation fails with environment variable from build parameter After quite some debugging I noticed that for whatever reason the parameterized string value "branch" was actually set to "branch " (note the trailing whitespace character). Works as expected, sorry for the noise. I think there should be a warning if there are leading/trailing whitespace characters inside a parameterized string, but this is unrelated to the Git plugin of course.
