Trevor Baker commented on JENKINS-16383 add option for SSL connection instead of SASL Tomcat 7 is splitting stdout and stderr and Jenkins is only seeing stdout so I wasn't seeing most of the errors being thrown (I'll have to fix this later). That led me to assume, incorrectly, that the problem was with SASL to SSL failover. Once I saw it was a 401 error I reentered that password, and voila! The IM functionality is quite nice and I hope to extend it soon.
