Aha, I spoke to one of my devs who had a look at the source and said the regexp on line 122 in SlaveTemplate is expecting a comma.
The instructions say : "If there are multiple security groups, separate them by a space."
I suspect the best way to fix this would be change the instructions or make sure the upgrade to the next version warns people that they need to change their commas to spaces.
