This is a follow up request for JENKINS-5622.
Even when the build queue list is collapsed, the _javascript_ still periodically refreshes it calling /ajaxBuildQueue. When the queue is very long, it will still cause bad user experience and increase server load.
So in addition to the collapse button, could you please also add a close button. When pressed, the widget will be removed from the DOM tree and no refresh request will be sent.
Ideally, it would be great if we can turn off the build queue widget from the configuration center.
