This option is there to assist with p4 output parsing, and has nothing to do with syncing. Here is the relevant section from the p4 documentation: The -s flag causes the p4 command line client program to prefix each line of output with a tag (error, warning, info, text, exit) to make it easier to use for scripting. This does not affect performance.
