In my case it was the transition to the new credentials system that caused it.
The main issue there is that the error message is completely unhelpful.
On the windows slaves no svn credentials were needed, it must have picked them up from the system, cache whatever .. on OSX we upgraded, which turned the build config into using the new credentials stuff, but left it silently unconfigured .. causing the failures.
