Could be related to the kind of item 'test' is. Until 1.538, only AbstractProject was allowed. So if "test" refers to e.g. a Folder, or (really!) a MonitorExternalJob, this won't work.
Edit: Clearly I'm wrong, as the report mentioned that it works without auth. Sorry about that.
