I still stand by my opinion that improvements that have not picked up any support in years (not sure whether the availability of an easy workaround should matter) should just be closed.
(Given that you, Oleg, seem to support this one, that's no longer strictly the case for this specific issue, so we could keep this one – still, in the general case it's pointless to keep these around!)
