I can confirm, the same happens to me. When the "Execute shell" step is executing then Jenkins goes insane and spawns sub-processes until all the memory is getting consumed. "$ /bin/sh -xe /tmp/hudson3122378043088995491.sh"
I would rather consider this bug blocker or critical, since it basically halts the whole instance!
