We need a lot more information to be able to work on this ticket.
This depends on how the slave is launched, but so long as the TCP connection remains undisrupted, a temporary loss/delay of packets will not cause the master/slave communication to go down.
Beyond TCP, Jenkins has a built-in time-out, but that kicks in in the order of 10s of seconds.
