Tim: Could you please provide detailed and complete steps to reproduce the issue from scratch (i.e. which Jenkins package should I download; as well as all steps I need to take afterwards)?
Note that your first comment from 2012 seems to indicate you missed entering the correct full URL by one colon, and Jenkins then "fixed" that for you by adding the missing http:// in front.
