Untested proposal:

hudson.plugins.ws_cleanup.Cleanup:
DirectoryScanner ds = new DirectoryScanner();
+ ds.setFollowSymlinks(false); // Or make it a GUI option (default false). I have no experience with Jenkins GUI development.

In org.apache.tools.ant.DirectoryScanner the default seems to be set to true:

    private boolean followSymlinks = true;
