I finally got what you want:

  • Project1 triggers Project2.
  • Project2 creates a file "artifact.tgz" in its build.
  • You want have Project1 to archive "artifact.tgz".

I think that's extension not for copyartifact, but for ArtifactArchiver which is a part of Jenkins core.
Or consider creating a new plugin.
