I can configure MavenProject with Gerrit Trigger. Of course its job can be triggered by gerrit events.
I'm setting Jenkins 1.581 and GT 2.11.1 (The same as you prepared)
If you have correctly introduced GT to your Jenkins, you can see "Gerrit Trigger" option in Build Trigger section on Job configuration.
