I've submitted a Pull Request a while ago that allows you the specify the (Git) branch for status badges. This way you can have separate badges per branch (for example one for master, one for develop). I think this is a very useful addition to this plugin.
I would love to get some feedback on the code and see if we can maybe make this SCM agnostic.
