"Build on the same node" should have builds run on the identical node.
If not, it's just a bug.
Could you attach build.xml of the build that ran on an unexpected node?
That should be located at JENKINS_HOME/jobs/(job name)/builds/(build number)/build.xml.
I expect NodeAction, which restricts the node to run on, is recorded in that file.
