The automated workaround of
JENKINS-18403was merely to run Maven in Java 6+ but pass -Dmaven.compiler.fork -Dmaven.compiler.executable=…/jdk5/bin/javac -Djvm=…/jdk5/bin/java, which you can configure your project to do to begin with. It was not a true fix; you cannot run Maven itself in Java 5 if you are using the Maven Project plugin.That fix did catch UnsupportedClassVersionError, but perhaps it is now thrown at a different time. Needs investigation.
