There was an infrastructure issue 8 Nov 2014 (and possibly a day or two earlier) which caused the mirrors site to not mirror content.
Kohsuke Kawaguchi reported that he was working on it that same day.
Update worked for me about 9 hours after the initial failure report. Believed to be fixed.
In any case, not an issue with the git client plugin.
