When checking out to a workspace without the clean workspace option specified, I would expect the checkout to work exactly as it would if I just performed a pull to my local repository. Git actually performs a checkout -f, resulting in all the timestamps being updated to "now".

To avoid changing the checkout behaviour, it would be useful to have a post checkout task that updates modified timestamps to their last authored time. See this post:
