JENKINS-15747it is clearly a bug. The fix of that issue involved bounding the depth of recursion; perhaps in your case you are hitting unbounded breadth, which is not currently checked. Given the lack of votes, I am guessing that few people have the particular job configuration to trigger this bug. If you need a fix, file a pull request with test; offer a bug bounty; or request help from a commercial support provider such as CloudBees.
