Well Kohsuke suggested not too along ago that we switch to Servlet 3.0 as a baseline, which would at least make this kind of enhancement possible, but I am not aware of any concrete movement beyond that. Someone could prototype a streamingConsoleText in a plugin, though it would consume a handler thread per client.
