You'll have much better results if you post questions to the user mailing list rather than posting questions as bug reports. Many more people read the mailing list than read bug reports for specific projects.
In this particular case, you may want to see if you can upgrade to the 2.3 series (2.3.4 probably preferred) of git plugin. The checkCredentials method was removed from one of the 2.3.x releases and that removal resolved several bugs.
