Since when is this implemented? I had 1.580.3 installed. https://updates.jenkins-ci.org/update-center.json?version=1.580.3 will point to 1.580.3 itself. The upgrade button is not shown in this case. An automatic upgrade to the latest LTS is not possible. Changing the URL manually to http://updates.jenkins-ci.org/stable/update-center.json as suggested by the OP solved the problem for me.
@Daniel Beck: https://updates.jenkins-ci.org/update-center.json?version=1.565.2 will point to 1.565.3. But currently 1.596.2 is the latest LTS version. Is this behaviour correct? It seems the mechanism can only do maintenance upgrades?
