Didn't see your last comment before i posted.
In your latest version, scenario 1 above gives us trouble,
i.e. when the nodelabelparameter is not a label, but a variable containing a label.
On the dashboard it looks as if we have a label named ${MAP_LABEL}.
I guess that if it is a variable we should just skip it.
If the nodelabelparameter is set to a label instead, it works as intended.
