I agree completely, although I read the changelog and release notes I had no idea of the impact of the change.
The other problem I have around this is when my master crashes (frequently) I have to remote to each of my slaves and restart the services to get them to reconnect. I am in the process of writing a power shell script that will use winrm connect to each node and restart the service.
