I don't believe this is true; workspaces are never copied wholesale. Parts of them can be copied if the job has been configured to preserve artifacts, and some plugins will also copy parts of them if needed (the Cobertura plugin, for example). Unless those features have been enabled though, the slave workspace is not copied to the master.
