Well Kohsuke always is confused as to why people use a plugin that doesn't have "Active Directory" in its name when trying to connect to Active Directory... so going on Kohsuke's philosophy, you should be using the Active Directory plugin to connect to Active Directory... and if that doesn't work for you, then you should file some bugs and pester Kohsuke to fix them bugs.
