At the last project meeting, we talked about celebrating Jenkins at 100K active users.
I am going to summarize two suggestions made in the meeting. There seemed to be general agreement that they were good ones. I was specifically tasked with proposing the blog strategy. So here goes: 1. *BLOG PROPOSAL #1:* Given a thumbs up on the project call. I was tasked with developing a specific proposal. Here goes: Jenkins users could blog about their experiences with Jenkins. As long as they pushed out a link to their blog on Twitter with the hashtag #Jenkins100K, they would be entered into a drawing for Jenkins swag. Winners would get: - Top prize: 1 winner – 3D printed Jenkins http://jenkins-ci.org/content/jenkins-figure-available-shapeways - Other prizes: 5 winners - Jenkins swag of your choice (up to $20) http://www.cafepress.com/jenkinsci - Total cost would be about $150 or so, which is something we can afford to fund from within the Jenkins project 2. *PROPOSAL #2:* Given a thumbs up on the project call. Kohsuke to follow up Summary: Have Kohsuke, Andrew, Tyler and Dean in some kind of broadcast forum where they could talk live (or record for replay later) about the history of Jenkins. A couple of options were suggested for some podcasts. If those don’t work out, a back up solution is to hold a webinar that people could attend, live, and could be recorded/archived for others to watch later. This would enable the entire community that was interested to celebrate, Jenkins at 100K along with KK/Andrew/Tyler/Dean. *3. ADDITIONAL IDEAS: *Heidi will follow up *Some other ideas I’d like to propose. I will take on having these things created/done if other people think they are good ideas:* - Make Jenkins 100K Celebration Day February 24 - that gives us some time to pull all of this off! - Create a Jenkins 100K badge that all of us could use as our Twitter profile image on a designated day (or during the week) that we deem the official Jenkins 100K celebration day. How cool would it be to see all kinds of 100K badges on Twitter posts, celebrating Jenkins? - Create some clever images celebrating Jenkins at 100K. We could all push them out on Twitter, Facebook, G+ - wherever – and celebrate Jenkins. - Create a downloadable certificate that would say “I am part of the 100K.” Users could print it and hang it in their work area. - Post a blog that is sort of a greeting card on the Jenkins-ci.org website recognizing the 100K mark and saying THANK YOU to the community for getting Jenkins over 100K. People could “sign it” (indicating they were part of the 100K) by posting a comment saying whatever they want to say: How they use Jenkins, what they like about it, when they first started using it, etc. Finally, this is all predicated on the stats showing that we actually hit 100K in the month of January. Kohsuke will have updated stats within the next day or two. I will reference this thread on the project call later today.
