An interesting tidbit.
I have spoken with Tim Heier at LLNL, and it turns out that the rule
engine mentioned at
http://www.javasoft.com/features/1999/04/hotspot.html
was indeed Jess. Tim says Sun savagely misquoted him, so take this
with a grain of salt.
