There's no requirement that Jess be run from that directory; it's just
that most of the example command lines given in that manual make that
assumption (i.e., java jess.Main examples/sticks.clp implies that
examples/ is a subdirectory of the current directory.) If you're
comfortable with CLASSPATHs and -classpath switches, you should have
no problem doing what you propose. Be sure to include
jess/scriptlib.clp in the jar file as well as all the class files.
