Subject: [fipaos] ANNOUNCEMENT: FIPA-OS v1.2.0 released (now with added intelligenc e)
Hi FIPA-OS developers,
We are pleased to announce the availability of FIPA-OS Version 1.2.0; this is the 7th public release since FIPA-OS was launched last October.
FIPA-OS is easy to install and now supports Jess (Java Expert System Shell) and FIPA-CCL (Constraint Choice Language) to enable improved reasoning abilities within the agents. Please find a feature summary below, together with a brief look at future developments.
We are also pleased to announce that FIPA-OS has been made into an official SourceForge project (see https://sourceforge.net/projects/FIPA-OS for details). The main advantage of this change is that it provides developers with a set of tools to support their contribution to the Open Source initiative, such as direct access to the CVS tree, plus tools for tracking bugs. Further, a public FTP site is provided that will enable access to associated documents and code. Although SourceForge provides a email list facility, there are currently no plans to migrate from the list currently hosted at http://fipaos.Listbot.com. A project website will be constructed shortly to provide convenient access to FIPA-OS documentation, including the UML model.
Since the last release of FIPA-OS further development projects have been announced. Details of these projects will be posted on the FIPA-OS web site shortly, but in the interim we are please to announce the following project:
- FIPA-NET - Stefan Poslad, Imperial College. FIPA-NET is a live network of FIPA platforms, currently with 2 nodes in operation. See http://casbah.ee.ic.ac.uk/fipanet/ for more information.
We hope to see the results of these development initiatives in a future release of FIPA-OS, you can track the progress of these and others via the mail list. We would also like to encourage new developers to join us in this open source (royalty free) initiative, and help ensure that FIPA-OS supports the features required by all of the agent developers using the toolkit. If you have ideas for the future of FIPA-OS then please propose them on the list - take advantage of the FIPA-OS community.
The new download can be found on the FIPA-OS
home pages at
http://www.nortelnetworks.com/fipa-os.
Thanks for all the comments and contributions, please keep sending your input to help ensure that the quality of FIPA-OS continues to improve over time.
