I am asking because we are thinking of using JESS for creating agents in a multi-agent system. Our toolkit is not distributed over several machines, agents will therefore share a single virtual machine.

Sorry! Just found it (it's always the same, I keep lookin for something, but only when I ask a question, no matter how long I have searched, I find the answer right away ;-)

If there is a faq I overlooked, please point me to it.

Chapter 6.2. Manipulating Jess in other ways
Note that each individual jess.Rete object represents an independent reasoning engine. A single program can then include several indepenent engines.

Cheers,
